Dance

The University of Lincoln’s BA (Hons) Dance degree has an industry-designed curriculum which links the theoretical and academic study of dance with the practical and creative disciplines of technique, choreography, performance, teaching and researching dance following an ethos of learning through doing.

Dance training at Lincoln focuses on contemporary techniques and works to develop and nurture creative practice. A variety of modules aim to help students to develop transferable skills in preparation for their future career.

The following events are available for you to book, but we are also keen to offer bespoke events tailored to the interests and needs of you or your students.

 

 

 

Workshop 1

Title: American Modern Techniques

Duration: 1.5-2 hours

Description:

An insight into the work of Martha Graham, Doris Humphrey and Merce Cunningham. Suitable for those studying GCSE, BTEC or A-level dance, this workshop is fully practical and explores the key foundations of these dance techniques, and includes the opportunity to learn a section of Repertory.

 

 

 

 

Workshop 2

Title: Insight into University Life

Duration:  2 hours (1 hour technique class, 40min-1 hour talk)

Description:

This practical class & careers-based talk is designed to help pupils understand what it could be like to be a dance student at University. The practical technique class will provide insight into the styles of contemporary dance studied at Lincoln, and the careers-based talk will allow pupils to hear about the career pathways possible from a BA (Hons) degree in Dance.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Workshop 3

Title: Choreographic Recharge

Duration: 1.5-2hours.

Description:

This practical workshop can complement the choreographic assignments pupils are currently working on  for GCSE/A-level/BTEC. Content can be tailored towards developing a skill-set that pupils may benefit from (contact work, improvisation, choreographing from a set stimuli, alternative ways of generating movement), and can include task setting and group work.
