Technical Theatre and Stage Management

BA (Hons) Technical Theatre and Stage Management is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to pursue a career in the live arts, entertainment, and events industry. The programme focuses on developing theatre professionals with a theoretical and vocational understanding of theatre industry roles and responsibilities, including academic knowledge and practical experience of the following subjects: stage management; stage lighting; live audio; design for the stage; health and safety; and the technical standards for places of entertainment.

The following events are available for you to book, but we are also keen to offer bespoke events tailored to the interests and needs of you or your students.

Workshop 1

Title: Lighting through a Scenographic Lens (Lighting Design)

Duration: 2 hours

Description:

This 2-hour practical workshop encourages participants to view their environment differently, taking the preconceived mundane and capturing it in all its glory. Participants are introduced to a lecture on creative lighting before exploring their surroundings with cameras to capture the lustre in everyday life. The session will end with participants sharing their discoveries with the group. Participants will need a mobile device with photo/video capabilities.

Workshop 2

Title: Introduction to Sound Design 

Duration: 2 hours

Description:

This 2-hour practical workshop encourages participants to create a storytelling audio recording. Participants are introduced to a lecture on sound design before creating their own audio storytelling experience. The session will end with participants sharing their recordings with the group. Participants will need a mobile device with recording capabilities.
